Mnemo Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
Mnemo is a memory game that turns the photos on your device into cards. It is developed by Dr Maze Books. This policy explains what data the app uses and what happens to it.
Summary
- Your photos never leave your device: we do not upload them, copy them to servers, or analyze faces or places.
- The Mnemo Premium subscription and the online account (subscribers only) are optional. Payments are handled by Google Play; we never see your payment details.
- We only send anonymous game usage statistics, which you can turn off in Settings.
Photos
With your permission, Mnemo reads your device’s gallery to pick random photos for each game. Photos are used only inside the app, on your device: to build the cards, to show the date a photo was taken once you find its pair, and to skip images that don’t make good cards (screenshots and nearly blank images, checked on the device). The app does not upload photos, does not save copies of them, does not keep an index of your gallery and does not use face recognition or photo locations.
If you do not grant photo access (or grant partial access), the game uses colorful pattern cards instead. You can change the permission at any time in the app’s or the system’s settings.
Data stored on your device
Game history (including the identifiers of the photos used in recent games, never the photos themselves), scores, records, Synapses, mascots and your preferences (sound, language, piece behavior) are saved in the app’s storage on your device. They are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data. If you are a Premium subscriber and create an online account, part of this data is also saved in the cloud, as described below (never the photos or their identifiers).
Mnemo Premium subscription
Mnemo Premium is an optional subscription, bought and managed through Google Play. Payment is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy: Mnemo does not receive or store your card or payment details. The app only asks Google Play whether your subscription is active and keeps that status on your device. You can cancel at any time in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
Online account (Premium subscribers)
If you are a subscriber and create an online account (with Google or with email and password), Mnemo uses Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, Google services, to:
- keep your sign-in (email and an account identifier);
- save your game history (mode, level, date, score and time), Synapses and mascots in the cloud, so you don’t lose progress when you change devices. Photos and photo identifiers are never sent;
- show the ranking: if you choose to join, your nickname and total Synapses are visible to other players with an account. Don’t use your real name as a nickname.
This data is linked to your account and used only for these features; it is not used for advertising and is not sold. Deleting your account: in Settings → Account → Delete account, the app deletes your sign-in, the history in the cloud and your ranking position (progress on the device stays). You can also request deletion without the app: see Delete your account.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand how the game is played and improve it, Mnemo uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a Google service. It sends:
- game events: game start, completion and abandonment (mode, level, score, time and progress), the answer to the photo access request (allowed, partial or denied), mascot changes, views of the Premium screen, subscription purchases started and completed (plan chosen, without payment details) and screens visited;
- automatic Firebase events, such as first open, sessions and engagement time;
- technical information: device model and operating system, language, app version and approximate country/region;
- a random installation identifier generated by Firebase, which does not reveal who you are.
We do not send photos, names, email, contacts, the advertising ID or precise location. The data is not used for advertising and is not sold. Google processes it as a service provider under the Firebase Data Processing Terms and the Google Privacy Policy. Data is sent encrypted and kept for at most 14 months.
How to turn it off: in the app, open Settings and turn off “Send anonymous usage statistics”. From then on, no events are sent.
Legal basis: statistics are based on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the game (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(f); Brazil’s LGPD, Art. 7, IX), and you can turn them off at any time.
International transfers: Google may process and store this data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, with the safeguards set out in the Firebase Data Processing Terms (such as the Standard Contractual Clauses).

The “Rate the app” item opens Mnemo’s page in the app store, which has its own privacy policy.
Children
Mnemo does not ask for personal information to play. The only exception is the optional online account for Premium subscribers, which uses an email address. The statistics described above are anonymous and can be turned off.
Your rights
At any time you can turn off statistics, revoke photo access, clear the app’s data in the system settings or delete your online account. Because we cannot link statistics to a person, we cannot look them up individually; still, if you have any request or question about your data (including under the GDPR or Brazil’s LGPD), contact us below. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country (in the European Union, the authority of the country where you live).
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its update date.
